OXFORD - Ralph W. Dimock, 93, of Kensington Road, Coventry, CT, formerly of Oxford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2008. His wife of 58 years, Esther (Newton) Dimock, predeceased him in 1997. He is survived by his three daughters, Sarah "Sally" Smith and her husband Terry of Holden, Priscilla Olson of Asheville, NC, and Jeanne Caron and her husband David of Coventry, CT. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Edgar and Sadie (Wellwood) Dimock. Mr. Dimock was a 1932 graduate of Oxford High School and of Massachusetts State College in 1936, now known as UMass Amherst. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was discharged as a Major having earned a Bronze Star Medal. Following his service to his country, he owned and operated his own farm, retiring in 1973 at which time he moved to Burnham, ME. In 1991, he moved to Coventry, CT. He was a member of the Oxford Grange, the Oxford Lodge of Masons, the Oxford Players Club, and served on the Oxford School Committee for twelve years. He was a former member of the First Congregational Church in Oxford and Unity Union Church in Unity, ME, and a member of the Second Congregational Church in Coventry. A funeral will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. in Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are Wednesday, October 15, 2008, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association Inc., 33 Lyman St., Westborough, MA 01581-1404.
