Phyllis Quail

OXFORD -- Phyllis Betty Quail, 91, passed away peacefully Friday, January 22, at the Shrewsbury Nursing Home. She leaves a beloved daughter, Caroline Bianchi, and her husband Al of Oxford; her granddaughters, Lynne Sierra and her husband Joe of Oxford and Doctor Alison Bianchi of Iowa City, Iowa and two cherished great-grandchildren, Joe Sierra of Amherst and Joci Sierra of Oxford. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Joseph Quail. Phyllis was born in Clinton, the daughter of the late Frank and Ida (Hopfman) Sontag. She lived in Clinton and Millbury before moving to Oxford in 1959. Phyllis was a member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, antiques and German culture. Phyllis especially loved cooking for and caring for her family. She was a gentle soul who will be dearly missed. Phyllis' family wishes to thank the compassionate staff persons at Shrewsbury Nursing Home, especially Ruth, who cared for her so kindly during the last year. A brief calling period will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery, Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Campership Fund at the Barton Center for Diabetes Education, P.O. Box 356, North Oxford, MA 01537.
