Phillip A. Bennett, Sr.

OXFORD – Phillip A. Bennett Sr., 83, died Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Lanessa Extended Care in Webster. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Elizabeth A. (Greeno) Bennett of Oxford; seven children, Phillip Bennett Jr. of Southbridge, David Bennett of Oxford, Sandra Gauthier of Lawrence, Bridget Rivers and her husband Lincoln of Millbury, Geri Haggett of Worcester, Jill Gray-Gagliastre and her husband Mark of Dudley, and Nikki Barrett and her husband Michael of Oxford; 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and two nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Bennett Sr.

He was born in Oxford son of the late Robert A. and Frances (Nabozny) Bennett, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1957.

Mr. Bennett was a truck driver for Sakrete in Oxford for over 25 years prior to retirement. Previously, he drove for Owens Illinois, and during retirement drove for Penske Trucking. He was a member of the Bishop Riders and the N&J Donut Shop Crew. He enjoyed muscle cars, NASCAR, going to car shows, taking long drives, and loved Chevrolet. He also enjoyed trips to New York and Sunday breakfasts with his wife at Dad’s Diner.

He was very social and knew someone everywhere he went. He always made time for family and friends, and will be remembered as a good father, grandparent, and friend.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 12 noon at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Friday from 10 a.m. – 12 noon at the funeral home prior to the service.
