Peter Martin

OXFORD / AUBURN - Peter R. Martin, 66, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at Park View Hospital in Leicester, after an illness. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Marcia "Marcy" A. (Kurowski) Martin of Oxford; six children, Kelly Orrett of Riverside, CA, Jason Martin of Rancho Cordova, CA, Joshua Martin of Edgewood, KY, Peter R. Martin Jr. of Webster, and Nikki Wyrick and Kamryn Sanchez, both of Riverside, CA; his sister, Pam Stapleton of Surfside Beach, SC; his brother, Rodney L. Martin Jr.; 14 grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. He was born in Lincoln, NE, the son of the late Rodney L. and Evelyn G. (Mahaney) Martin, and was raised in California and lived in Auburn, before moving to Oxford in 2006. Mr. Martin was a truck driver for more than 45 years, retiring in 2010. He was a lifetime member of the Auburn Elks Lodge 2118 and was a member of the Auburn Sportsman's Club. He was a New England sports fan, especially enjoying the Patriots and Red Sox, and he loved his dog, Harley. Mr. Martin also enjoyed his scratch tickets, rolling the dice at ASC, going to Mohegan Sun for a couple of hours to pass the time, and playing California Rummy with family and friends. Calling hours are Friday, August 30, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A prayer service will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. at the conclusion of calling hours. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Peter R. Martin Memorial Fund, c/o Hometown Bank, 31 Sutton Avenue, Oxford, MA 01540.
