Peter Germain

OXFORD - Peter A. "Al" St. Germain, 97, went to God on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at the St. Francis Home in Worcester. He was predeceased by his wife Bernice H. (Malkowski) St. Germain who died in 1980; his first wife, Blanche St. Germain who died many years ago; and seven siblings, Antoinette, Glorina, Jeannette, Eli, Gerald, Theresa, and Elaine. He is survived by many nephews and nieces, including his caregiver Suzanne T. Morin and her husband Donald of North Oxford. He was born in Spencer, the son of the late Phillippe and Olivine (Dufault) St. Germain, and lived in Spencer and Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1958. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. St. Germain was a machinist at Leland and Gifford Co. in Worcester for 32 years, retiring in 1980. Previously, he worked at Curtis and Marble in Worcester for 8 years. He was a member of St. Ann's Church in North Oxford. He was a member of the Father Dennis J. Rocheford Knights of Columbus Council 4241 in Oxford and the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree John Cardinal Wright Assembly. Mr. St. Germain enjoyed many trips to the Beacon in Lincoln, NH, and visits to the Plainfield Dog Track. He was blessed with a beautiful tenor voice and sang in the Schola Choir at St. Paul's Cathedral, Notre Dame des Canadiens, and finally at St. Ann's Church in North Oxford. He was happiest when he sang O Holy Night in French and English at Midnight Mass. A very special thank you is given to the staff of 4W at the St. Francis Home and Asera Care Hospice for their care, concern, and commitment. A funeral will be held on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford. Military burial will follow at Mary Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer, with the Oxford Memorial Honor Guard participating. Calling hours are Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann's Church, P.O. Box 488, North Oxford, MA 01537.
