WORCESTER – Paul M. Mair, Sr., 94, of Parsons Hill Drive, died Thursday, August 17, 2017, in his home. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Anna C. (Weigand) Mair. He is survived by three children, Paul M. Mair Jr. and his wife Judith of Worcester, Robert J. Mair and his wife Helen of Villas, NJ, and Barbara A. Mair of Worcester. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Oscar and Margaret (Schafer) Mair, and lived in Philadelphia before moving to Worcester in 2007. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, proudly serving in the Pacific.
Mr. Mair worked at Riverview Home for the Aged in Philadelphia for over 10 years, retiring in 1984. Previously, he worked for Midvale-Heppanstall Company Philadelphia for over 20 years. He was the Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 136 in Philadelphia during the early 1960’s. Mr. Mair enjoyed bowling every week for the past 10 years in the senior league at AMF Bowling in Auburn, and attended water aerobics at Paxton Sports Center in Paxton. He bowled twice each week for almost 60 years and participated in the Silver Sneaker Program.
Calling hours are Wednesday, August 23, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at St. Martha’s Church, 11301 Academy Rd., Philadelphia, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. at the church prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Philadelphia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veteran’s Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.
