BOULDER CITY, NV – Paul “Gus” Lagerstrom, 75, died Thursday, October 26, 2017, at St. Mary’s Health Care in Worcester, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He is survived by three children, Maria E. Schaffer of Huntington Beach, California, Donna L. Lagerstrom of So. Yarmouth, and Paul J. Lagerstrom of Boulder City, Nevada; his brother, Philip Lagerstrom of Venice, Florida; his sister, Louise Chartier of North Oxford; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Louis and Florence (Anderson) Lagerstrom. He graduated from West Boylston High School in 1960 and Nichols College in Dudley in 1965.
Gus lived a very dynamic life as a Federal Police Officer and Ranger for the National Park Service for 30 years. He served at The Grand Canyon, Cape Cod National Seashore, Blue Ridge Mountains, Everglades National Park, Delaware Water Gap, Washington DC, and Lake Mead, retiring in Boulder City, Nevada in 1998. After retiring, he was a member of the coroner’s office for the city of Las Vegas and Worked for Mine Labs Inc., where he sold metal detectors and escorted clients into the desert to look for gold. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Boylston and The Men of Song, Worcester Chapter.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2017, at the First Baptist Church, 693 Main St., North Oxford. Burial will be private at a later date at Ancient Cemetery in South Yarmouth. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary‘s Health Care, 39 Queen St. Worcester, MA 01610. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
