Patricia A. Merson

QUINEBAUG, CT – Patricia A. (Myers) Merson, 85, of Quinebaug CT, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025, at St. Mary Health Care Center in Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Ronald G. Merson, Sr. who died in 2002; her daughter, Louise A. Theriaque, who passed away in 2024; and her son-in-law, Raymond A. Theriaque, who passed away in 2024.

She is survived by three children, Ronald G. Merson, Jr. and his wife Donna of Canaan, VT, Wayne R. Merson and his wife Jhonna of North Carolina, and Michelle L. O’Sullivan and her husband Timothy of Woodstock CT; eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late George A. and Gertrude (Progin) Myers, Sr. She was raised in Auburn and graduated from Auburn High School in 1957. She lived in Oxford and Charlton prior to moving to Quinebaug in 2004, but always considered Oxford her hometown.

Mrs. Merson worked at Traveler’s Insurance Company in Worcester for 18 years, retiring in 1994. Previously, she worked for Commerce Insurance Company in Webster for 6 years. She was a former member of the Board of Directors of Quinebaug Park, Inc. She was a faithful Catholic and belonged to St. Roch’s Church in Oxford and St. Stephen’s Church in Quinebaug for many years.

She was a worldwide traveler and visited many places in the past 20 years. She especially loved spending time in Maine. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed camping, knitting, reading, and playing bingo. She could often be found enjoying her coffee, doughnuts, and blueberry muffins at N&J Donuts, as well as going out to eat at many favorite restaurants.

A funeral will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
