CHARLTON - Norman S. Wilbur, 73, of Richardson Corner Road, died Sunday, November 30, 2008, in his home after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joanne M. (Zollo) Wilbur of Charlton; two sons, Brian F. Wilbur and his wife Jeanne of Charlton, and Todd S. Wilbur and his wife Elise of Brookfield; his grandchildren, Kelsey, Erin, Patrick, Daniel, Mia, and Grace; and several nephews nieces, great nephews and nieces, and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Dean E. Wilbur of Charlton, who died in 1963; and four brothers, Edward Wilbur, Frank Wilbur Jr., Richard Wilbur, and Robert Wilbur. He was born in Charlton, the son of the late Frank A. and Florence E. (Swensen) Wilbur, and was a lifelong resident of Charlton. He graduated from Charlton High School in 1954 and was a member of the Army National Guard. Mr. Wilbur retired after 34 years at United Technologies Corp. in East Hartford, CT. Later he worked for the Southern Worcester County Elderbus, retiring after 8 years. Earlier in life, Mr. Wilbur was a little league coach and enjoyed bowling. He always enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports, and loved nothing more than spending time with his family. His family would like to thank the medical telemetry doctors and staff at St. Vincent Hospital for their exceptional care. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2008, at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Westridge Cemetery, Charlton. Calling hours are Wednesday, December 3, 2008, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
