OXFORD - Newman A. Neal, 88, formerly of Oxford, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jessie C. (Janes) Neal of Southbridge; his son, Cyril Neal and his wife Linda of New Hampshire; three grandsons, Keith Neal and his wife Tara of Upton, Jason Neal and his wife Alison of Brookline, and Ryan Neal and his wife Deanna of New Hampshire; five great grandchildren, Amelia and Colin Neal, both of Brookline; Owen, Connor, and Caitlyn Neal, all of Upton; a brother, Hounsell Neil of Newfoundland, Canada; and two sisters, Amanda (Monie) Tulk and Gwendolyn Dennis of Newfoundland, Canada. He was predeceased by a son, Keith Neal who died in 1956; two brothers, Gordon Neil and John Neil; and five sisters, Elizabeth (Lizzy) Janes, Annie Janes, Alma Jenniex, Dulcie Burden and Rita Laing. He was born in Norris Point, Newfoundland, Canada, the son of the late Henry and Margaret (Major) Neil, and lived in Oxford for over 30 years before moving to Florida and Southbridge. Mr. Neal worked at Reed and Prince Corporation in Worcester for over 25 years. After his retirement, he worked at Lelenite Corporation in Webster and B.J.'s Wholesale Club in Auburn. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Oxford. A private graveside service was held at North Cemetery in Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Newman Neal to the First Congregational Church, P.O. Box 585, Oxford, MA 01540.
