DUDLEY - Mildred E. (Sprague) Gray, 98, of Green Street, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Avery Archibald Gray, who died in 1965. She is survived by her daughter, Rhoda Taylor of Dudley, with whom she lived; nineteen grandchildren, many, many great grandchildren, and many more great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by five sons, Robert Gray, Martin Peterson, Kent Gray, Roy Gray and Duane Gray. She was born in North Brookfield, the daughter of the late Leslie W. and Jennie T. (Young) Sprague, and was a longtime resident of Charlton prior to moving to Dudley over 35 years ago. Mrs. Gray worked for many years at Reed and Prince in Worcester before retiring from McClellan's in Southbridge in 1974. She was a longtime member of the Charlton Methodist Church. In May of this year, Mrs. Gray received her sixty-five year membership seal from the Dudley Grange, where she was currently serving as the Chaplin. She enjoyed candlepin bowling and was a prolific paint-by-number artist. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at Westridge Cemetery in Charlton.
