OXFORD - Mildred V. Beardsley, 89, of Wheelock St., died Thursday, January 14, 2010, at Sunbridge-Sandalwood Nursing Home in Oxford. She is survived by many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. She was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters. She was born in North Oxford, the daughter of the late Marvin and Mary (Frechette) Beardsley, and lived her entire life in North Oxford and Oxford. Mrs. Beardsley was an insurance clerk at Smith Valve Corporation in Westboro for 15 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. Ann's Church in North Oxford, and always loved telling jokes. She was a caring person who volunteered as a driver for the elderly and enjoyed being a companion and caregiver. She had a long history of community service, enjoyed traveling, loved gardening and her cats. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2010, at St. Roch's Cemetery, Federal Hill Road, Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the V.F.W., c/o National Headquarters, 406 West 34th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64111. Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, is directing the arrangements.
