AUBURN - Michael Peter Cullinan, 28, of Overhill Drive, died suddenly on Sunday, February 15, 2015. His laugh and fun loving personality will be deeply missed by all. He is survived by his parents, Roy "Bud" and Carol (Sexton) Cullinan of Auburn; three sisters, Jessica L. Cullinan of Worcester, Caitlin M. Rosario and her husband Adam of Auburn, and Nicole A. Cullinan of Auburn; his maternal grandparents, Pete and Patricia Sexton of Auburn; his paternal grandparents, Phyllis Cullinan of Bourne, and Roy and Gale Cullinan Jr. of Pompano Beach, FL; his maternal great-grandmother, Ruth Aitchison of Auburn; his loving girlfriend, Brianna S. Tucker of Milford, and her children that he treated as his own, Lillian and Tyler; his niece, Brooklyn; two nephews, Logan and Roman; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins, including Tom and Sue Carlsen and their children Eric and Christina, with whom he had a very special relationship. He was born in Worcester and lived most of his life in Webster. He attended St. Anne's School in Webster, Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School in Charlton, and New England Tech in RI in which he received the Jack Sullivan Scholarship Award. Michael served 2 tours in Iraq with the U.S. Army Infantry. He volunteered to accompany Delta Company on their 2008-2009 Operation Iraqi Freedom tour less than 1 year after returning from his previous tour with his home unit. He was also awarded a Letter of Commendation for his service which states "His technical and tactical skills proved paramount when he was hand-picked to be the Convoy Commander's gunner for numerous convoy logistic patrols." Michael loved the outdoors, especially fishing and going to the beach. He enjoyed fixing almost anything and spent many hours working on his car. He was an accomplished athlete who enjoyed playing soccer and basketball. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 7272 in Bellingham. Michael's number one love was spending time with his family, especially his sisters, nephews, and niece. Memorial calling hours are Tuesday, February 24, 2015, from 5-8 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Auburn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VA Medical Center, Voluntary Service, 200 Springs Rd., Bedford, MA 01730. A note with the donation must be included stating "Michael P. Cullinan, Donation for P.T.S.D research" to help others in his military family suffering from P.T.S.D.
