WOODSTOCK, CT - Melissa A. Thompson, 44, of Brickyard Road, died Monday, June 2, 2014, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence in Worcester. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Joseph E. Thompson Sr. of Woodstock, CT; two children, Mackayla R. Thompson and Joseph E. Thompson Jr., both of Woodstock, CT; her parents, James and Eleanor (Roos) Booth Jr. of Oxford; a sister, Jessica L. Vaudreuil and her husband Scott of Webster; her mother-in-law, Kathleen Thompson of Woodstock, CT; and nephews and nieces, Haley, Dakota, Jonathan, and Michael. She was predeceased by her uncle, Nick Roos. She was born in Worcester, and lived in Oxford and Webster before moving to Woodstock 10 years ago. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1988 and Nichols College in 2002. Mrs. Thompson worked at the Commerce Insurance Company in Webster for 17 years. She was a soccer and basketball coach for her children's teams. She enjoyed photography, scrapbooking, cooking, bowling, playing softball, and going to the theater. Her family was the most important part of her life, and being with them was her greatest joy. A funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Tuesday, June 10, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers may be sent or donations may be made to the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, c/o. V.N.A. Care Network, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
