Matthew S. Ferguson

BARRE – Matthew S. Ferguson, 47, of Sutton and formerly of Barre, died Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester, after an illness. He is survived by two sons, Mason Ferguson and Andrew Ferguson, both of Barre; his mother, Donna M. LaPlante and her husband Jeffrey of Auburn; his father, Calvin W. Ferguson and his wife Julie of Southbridge; his brother, Chad Ferguson of Minneapolis, MN; two sisters, Caitlin Murphy of Oxford, and Cayla Bennett and her husband Jake of Hermitage, PA; his maternal grandmother, Phyllis Carey of Oxford; his partner with whom he lived, Alexis Probasco of Sutton, Alexis’ daughter, Lyla; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

He was born in Plantation, FL, and lived most of his life in Barre before moving to Sutton last year. He graduated from Quabbin Regional High School in Barre in 1995.

Matthew loved spending time outdoors grilling, camping, and especially fishing and hiking with his sons.

Per Matt’s request, there are no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Ecumenical Food Shelf, 4 Maple Rd., Oxford, MA 01540.

Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
