OXFORD / MESA, AZ -- Matthew L. "Bubby" Armendo, 75, formerly of Beverly St., died November 18, 2011, after a short illness. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Catherine G. (Larkin) Armendo of Mesa, AZ. He is survived by three children, Toni M. Fields of Oxford, Matthew A. Armendo of Mesa, AZ, and Marty J. Armendo and his wife Charlene of Sutton; a sister, Joanne Beatrice; a half-brother, Mark Armendo; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley, Adam, Anthony, Marty Jr., Kassi, and Adrianna; nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Bartholomew Armendo. He was born in Worcester on June 29, 1936, the son of the late John Armendo and Lillian (Bisceghlia) Armendo, and lived in Oxford for 30 years before moving to Arizona 13 years ago. He graduated from the Academy of Sacred Heart in Worcester. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, where he was stationed in Iceland and Bryan Air Force Base as a medical administrative specialist. Mr. Armendo was a heavy equipment operator for A. Amerello and Sons in Worcester for 35 years. He was a member of the International Union of Operator Engineers Local 4. He was an avid golfer especially loved to golf with his close friends in Mesa and his cousin Matt. He loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford.
