Margaret Smith

OXFORD - Margaret D. (Norton) Smith, 87, of Gardner Street, died Saturday, May 23, 2015, at the Meadows of Leicester. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence N. Smith who died in 1988; and her daughter, Evelyn D. Mann who died in 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Eleanor R. Perreault and her husband David of Oxford; two sisters, Marietta White and her husband Roger of Millbury, and Millie Brosihan and her husband Paul of Millbury; six grandchildren, Bonnie L. Mayo and her husband Elmo of Leicester, Carren E. Hannon and her husband Charlie of Canton, GA, Christopher L. Davey of Oxford, Kimberly M. Blanchette of Webster, Michelle R. Barnhart and her husband Nicholas of Rindge, NH, and Roger D. Perreault and his wife Catie of Oxford; nine great-grandchildren, Shelby, Julie, Jay, Brianna, Dylan, Logan, Mathew, Ethan, and Raegan; and one great-great-grandson, Ryan. She was born in Millbury, the daughter of the late Ralph and Melva (Hutchinson) Norton, and lived in Millbury before moving to Oxford 65 years ago. She graduated from Millbury High School in 1947. Mrs. Smith worked at Sandalwood Nursing Home in Oxford for 30 years, retiring in 1990. In her youth, she was an accomplished athlete in Millbury and was inducted in to the Millbury High School Sports Alumni in 2007. She enjoyed shopping, loved spending time with her family and friends, and will be remembered as the heart of her family. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Wednesday, May 27, 2015, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
