OXFORD – Mae L. (Rogers) Ireland, 59, of West Street, died Friday, May 31, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Richard A. Ireland of Oxford; two daughters, Mandy L. (Sims) Fenner of Missouri, and Kai-Lani Sims of Worcester; her siblings, Rae Blair and her husband Paul, Fred Rogers and his wife Robin, and April White and her husband Robert; her aunts and uncles, Frances Robinson, Rocky Rogers, Marty Rogers, and Fred Goding; seven grandchildren, including Savahna L. Lomba and Daniel T. Lomba, whom she helped raise; and countless cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and a large extended family on the Lavalle side. She was predeceased by her former husband, Timothy Sims.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Frederick R. Rogers and Bertha I. (Goding) Lavalle, and lived in Worcester and Charlton before moving to Oxford in 1978. She was chosen as a member of the Junior National Honor Society prior to moving to Oxford, and graduated from Oxford High School in 1982. She received the Student Council Award from the high school at graduation.
Mrs. Ireland worked at Interstate Specialty Products in Sutton for over 20 years. Previously, she worked at Millbrook Distributors and American Optical. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Oxford, and was the supervisor and a teacher for the church’s Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed road trips, angels, sitting by the fire, eating fried dough, and visits with family and friends. She will be remembered as someone who loved to help others.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the First Baptist Church, 693 Main Street, North Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 577, 693 Main Street, North Oxford, MA 01537.
