OXFORD - Mabel R. (Strachen) White, 84, died Monday, July 9, 2012, after a short illness. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert H. White of Charlton; her son, James White and his wife Joan of Charlton, with whom she lived; her sister, Agnes Low of Scotland; two brothers, Edward Strachen and Harold Strachen, both of Scotland; four grandchildren, Sean Cogoli and his companion Nicole Ricchiazzi of Barre, Amber Cogoli and her partner Natasha Bondarchuk of Orient, NY, Jonathan McGrath and his wife Cindi of Webster, and Amanda Smith and her fiancé Nicholas Bellerive of Charlton; three great grandchildren, Jacob Cogoli of Barre, Kaden McGrath and Kiara McGrath, both of Webster; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a daughter, Michelle Cogoli; and a brother, James Strachen. She was born in Kintore, Eberbeenshire, Scotland, the daughter of the late James and Agnes (Robertson) Strachen, and lived most of her life in Oxford. Mrs. White was an accountant at State Mutual Life Insurance Company in Worcester for 30 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Rochdale and a former member and treasurer of Trinity Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, CT. She enjoyed taking trips with the Oxford Senior Center, and enjoyed vacationing to Cape Cod and Old Orchard Beach. She loved reading and cooking, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Memorial calling hours will be Saturday, July 14, 2012, from 1-3 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A service and burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
