Lynne Roy

THOMPSON, CT – Lynne E. (Anderson) Roy, 68, of Thompson Road, died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Joseph H. Roy Jr. who died in 2016. She is survived by two children, Kristen E. Kalill and her husband Robert of Putney, VT, and Matthew G. Roy and his wife Mary Carol Campbell of Ardmore, PA; and three grandchildren, Julian C. Roy, Oliver C. Roy, and Caroline D. Roy. She was born in Weymouth, daughter of the late Eric W. and Sigrid J. (Smedh) Anderson, and lived most of her life in Oxford before moving to Thompson 11 years ago. She graduated from Chatham High School later attended nursing school in Boston.

Mrs. Roy worked as a licensed practical nurse at several area nursing homes. She was a member of St. Roch’s Church, where she also served as a Eucharistic minister and volunteered for many committees. She loved reading, going to the library, animals, and the ocean.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Those attending are respectfully requested to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Cat Connection, P.O. Box 724, Webster, MA 01570. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
