OXFORD - Lewis J. Emond, 84, died Sunday, May 17, 2009, at Radius Healthcare Center in Worcester. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mildred (Cyr) Emond of Oxford; four children, Elaine M. Monsen of Oxford, Gary P. Emond of Fernley, NV, Arlene D. Hibbard of Webster, and Ronald G. Emond of Southbridge; two brothers, Albay Emond of Worcester and Earl Emond of Connecticut; a sister, Germaine O'Brien of New Hampshire; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one step great grandson, and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by three brothers, Ervin Emond, Gilbert Emond, and Renaud Emond. He was born in Frenchville, ME, the son of the late Willie and Edith (Gervais) Emond, and lived most of his life in Oxford. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served as a squad leader under General Patton's command and participated in the Battle of the Bulge (European Conflict). Mr. Emond was a machinist at George Meyers Co. in West Boylston for over 20 years. Later, he was the maintenance manager at Wright Line in Worcester for 5 years. He was a member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Military burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford. A memorial calling hour will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Allegiance Hospice, 415 Boston Turnpike Rd., Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
