Leroy Fortin, Sr.

OXFORD – Leroy H. Fortin Sr., 87, of Huguenot Road, died unexpectedly on Monday, December 21, 2015, at Harrington Healthcare in Webster. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Serephine T. (Rochette) Fortin of Oxford. He is survived by five children, Cynthia M. Jodoin and her husband Wayne of Charlestown, RI, Gail A. Sinitski and her husband Stan of Hampstead, NH, Brian M. Fortin and his wife Cathy of Hudson, Bruce K. Fortin and his wife Rebecca of Webster, and Karen L. Champ and her husband Richard of Westerly, RI; 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two children, Lee H. Fortin of Lowell who died in 1997, and Rebecca J. Gaulin of Spencer who died in 1999; two brothers, Joseph and George; and two sisters, Marie and Margaret. He was born in Biddeford, Maine, son of the late Joseph and Gladys (Young) Fortin, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford 62 years ago.

Roy was a small engine technician at Sears for over 20 years before retiring in 1990. He was always working on some kind of engine repair to help out his family and friends. He loved traveling, going to the beach, attending shows, watching auto racing, and going to air shows. But most of all he enjoyed sharing these interests with his family. He was a dedicated family man whose children, grandchildren and great grandchildren meant everything to him. His wife Serephine was the love of his life and there was never a day that she was not close to his heart.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Monday, December 28, 2015, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
