Lawrence Guskey

OXFORD - Lawrence T. Guskey, 89, of Main Street, died Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at Lanessa Extended Care in Webster, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth P. (Olney) Guskey of Oxford; two sons, David L. Guskey and his wife Deborah of Dudley and Stephen L. Guskey and his wife Marianne of Holland; two grandchildren, Alisa and Kyle Guskey of Holland; his sister, Cecelia Ingraham of Howey-In-The-Hills, FL; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by three brothers, Bernard, Michael, and George Guskey; and a sister, Beatrice Galvin. He was born in Oxford, the son of the late Michael and Eva (Bonneau) Guskey, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. He attended Oxford High School, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in Guadalcanal. Mr. Guskey was a salesman for various lumber companies, retiring from Pond Lumber in Auburn in 1992. He was a lifelong member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford. He was an avid outdoorsman and woodworker, and loved the Red Sox and Patriots. A funeral will be held on Friday October 11, 2013, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Thursday, October 10, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
