Laurence Guerin

NORTH OXFORD - Laurence F. Guerin, 84, of Prospect Street, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Wenola "Nola" P. (Nadeau) Guerin. He is survived by four children, David L. Guerin and his wife Elaine of North Oxford, John E. Guerin of Webster, Paula A. Perry of North Grosvenordale, CT, and Deborah M. Anderson and her husband Kevin of Oxford; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a son, James F. Guerin; and two sisters, Natalie A. Quinlan and Gloria Hatfield. He was born in Portland, ME, the son of the late John J. and Evelyn A. (Coley) Guerin, and lived in Worcester and Auburn before moving to Oxford in 1955. He graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester in 1945 and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Guerin worked at Massachusetts Electric Co. in Worcester for 39 years, retiring in 1989. He was also the manager of the Oxford Twin Drive-In for many years. He was a member of St. Ann's Church in North Oxford, and was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Altar Society at the church. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4241 in Oxford. Mr. and Mrs. Guerin were founding members of North American Martyrs Church in Auburn in 1952. He will be remembered as a great husband, father, and grandfather, and he dedicated his life to his family and the church. A funeral will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford. Military burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford, with the Oxford Memorial Honor Guard participating. Calling hours are Friday, May 18, 2012, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
