Kathleen Temple

OXFORD - Kathleen (Mitchell) Temple, a long-time resident of Oxford, died November 25th at her home following an extended illness.

Born in 1945 in Minneapolis, MN to Neil and Jean (Smith) Mitchell, Kathy lived in Illinois during her childhood, graduating from Willowbrook HS in Villa Park, in 1963. She served in the US Navy in Great Lakes, IL where she met her husband Frederic, whom she married in 1967. After completing their military service, they settled in Massachusetts to raise their family. Kathy was employed for many years at Billerica Public Schools; in subsequent years she worked in the property & casualty insurance industry. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed part-time work, volunteered with several community organizations, and was an active "foster Mom" to countless homeless dogs in support of New England Brittany Rescue. Kathy loved gardening, reading, vacations with her family at Squam Lake, and was truly gifted with yarncrafts. In later years, she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and her beloved Brittany dogs & other rescue pups to whom she opened her home & her heart. Her kindness & her sense of humor were legendary.

Kathy was predeceased by her parents and by brothers Terrance & Michael, as well as by her husband Frederic (d. 2013). She is survived by her children Christine Doyle & her husband Christopher of Bellingham, MA; Cheryl Temple-Scandale & her husband Joseph of Framingham, MA; and John Temple of Ravena, NY., as well as by her dear grandchildren Lindsay, Matthew & Joseph. She will be sadly missed by her extended family & by her dear friends, several of whom were especially supportive of her following the death of Frederic.

Visiting hours will be at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, on Friday, December 2, 2016, from 10 a.m. -12 p.m. A memorial service will immediately follow at 12 noon at the same location. Burial will be private.
