Kathleen Pinard

OXFORD - Kathleen Bernice (Briggs) Pinard, of Old Worcester Road, died Saturday, February 7, 2015, in her home. She was known as "Bern" to family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Albert G. Pinard; her son, Edwin W. Laprade and his wife Carol of Fort Myers, FL; her beloved grandchildren, Michelle Ouelette and her husband Michael, Joshua Marcotte, Johanna DeCaro and her husband Peter; Edward Laprade, Jessica Mykytyn and her husband Steven; eleven great grandchildren, Devyn, Justin, Madison, Alexandra, Emma, Pierce, Joshua, Taylor, Samantha, Kassie, and Ryan; and very special sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, friends, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon (Laprade) Marcotte; and three brothers, James Douglas Briggs, John David Briggs, and Edwin A. Briggs. Bern was born on September 29, 1923, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, the daughter of the late Edwin C. and Kathleen M. (Quinn) Briggs. She came to the United States at age 3 and attended Worcester Public Schools before moving to Auburn. After graduating from Auburn High School in 1942, she worked at New England Telephone, married, and raised her children. Later, she went to work at Paul Revere Insurance, retiring after 22 years of service. Bern was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and the 4000 Footer Club. She was an active hiker and canoeist. She was a member of St. Ann's Church in North Oxford. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at St. Ann's Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford. Those attending are respectfully requested to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Tuesday, February 10, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.
