MILFORD - OXFORD -- Kathleen Joanne Mooney Rafferty , 57, was granted her angel wings, with her husband and children by her side, on July 19, 2013 after a valiant fight against breast cancer. She was born May 9, 1956 in Worcester, was raised in Sutton, and graduated from David Hale Fanning Trade High School in 1974. Kathleen was the Senior Employment Coordinator with Community Enterprise of Worcester. She worked closely with individuals who had disabilities, focusing on their personal strengths while training and encouraging them to become as independent as possible. She pushed for these individuals to reach for their goals and to believe in themselves which led to so many successes. Kathleen enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Anyone who was close to Kathleen knew that her children and grandchildren were her entire world. Each weekend, she could be found on the sidelines of a grandchild's soccer or basketball game cheering on one of her little stars. She was nominated 'MVM' (Most Valuable Manamar) and honored the title well! She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, and going to yard sales. Left to cherish her memories are her husband William D. Mooney of Milford; their children, Melanie M.(Cormier) Gonyea and her husband Brian P. Gonyea of Oxford, Mayomie M. Cormier of Oxford, Elissa K.(Rafferty) Comeau of Oxford, Janelle C. Glynn of Ashland, William M. Symonds of Natick; and their four grandchildren Nicholas R.Gonyea, Haylee M. Comeau, Isabella M. Gonyea, and Keegan M. Comeau. Rafferty of Worcester, Christine Rafferty Morway of Webster; her two brothers, Richard J. Rafferty, Jr.of Northborough and Timothy M. Rafferty of Sutton; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great friends. Kathleen's friends and family describe her as "beautiful, dedicated, committed, energetic, compassionate, strong, fierce, remarkable, happy, feisty, bossy, and always had a can do attitude. She was a wonderful soul, full of knowledge and advice and loved to make people laugh. When she set her mind to achieve a goal, she achieved it, no matter what hurdles she needed to overcome. Kathleen was always there for everyone, no issue or event was too big or too small. She loved, cared, taught, guided, shared, gave, gave, and gave! There is no question that she has left heart prints on everyone she has met! Calling hours are Friday, July 26, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.
