OXFORD - Kathleen E. (Gomes) Galvin, 60, of 42 Locust Street, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester with her family by her side, after a battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Joseph S. Galvin of Oxford; two children, David L. Blomberg and his wife Carolann of Brooklyn, CT, and Jessica L. Lawrence and her husband Jamie of East Killingly, CT; her mother, Avis (Beauregard) Gomes of Thompson, CT; her brother, Alan Gomes and his wife Wendy of North Grosvenordale, CT; two sisters, twin Doreen M. Hatfield and her husband Robert of Oxford, and Pamela J. Polletta and her husband Michael of Thompson, CT; four grandchildren, Shaine and Mackenzie Blomberg, both of Brooklyn, CT, Hailey and Kylie Lawrence, both of East Killingly, CT; and many nephews and nieces. She will also be missed by her cats, Mugsy and Tabby. She was born in Webster, the daughter of the late Louis Gomes Jr., and lived in Webster and Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1990. She attended Bartlett High School in Webster. Mrs. Galvin worked at Metso Automation (formerly Jamesbury) in Shrewsbury for 28 years. She especially enjoyed planting flowers in the spring, feeding the birds and squirrels, and most of all enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a beautiful, simple woman who loved all of the simple things in life. A celebration of Kathy's life will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2014, from 1-5 p.m. at the American Legion Tuttle Post, 88 Bancroft St., Auburn. Burial will be private at a later date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Metrowest HomeCare and Hospice, 115 Lincoln St., Framingham, MA 01702. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
