OXFORD - Judith (Masterson) Prunier, 90, died peacefully in her home in Oxford on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Judy was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, the daughter of James and Theresa Masterson, on April 16, 1925. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Prunier, her sons Robert and Edward James Prunier, and all of her 5 siblings. She leaves her son James J. Prunier of North Grosvenordale, Connecticut, her daughter Susan Prunier who lived with her in Oxford, her son Stephen J. Prunier, his wife Jody and their sons Hudson, Harris and Holden Prunier of Lenox, Massachusetts, and her daughter-in-law Carolyn Prunier of Thompson, Connecticut. After graduating from South High School in Worcester, Judith obtained a degree in Foods and Nutrition from the University of Rhode Island. She first worked at the then Massachusetts Gas and Electric Co in Southbridge, MA, demonstrating to new housewives their home appliance line. She later became an Oxford Middle school teacher in home economics from which position she retired. She also worked for 30 years at Old Sturbridge Village as a costumed historical interpreter sharing her knowledge of history and particularly the use of herbs with thousands of visitors. She was also a member of the Oxford Women's Club and the Friends of the Oxford Library. She was a member and long standing lector and Eucharistic minister at St. Roch's Church in Oxford. Judith loved her LORD and leaned on him heavily during her life's journey. During her challenging last year battling with heart failure, she was comforted to know that God was with her in every struggle. Judy was a sweet and lovely person who had many life-long friends. She was known for her beautiful singing voice and was the solo vocalist at many weddings and funerals. Her students fondly remember "Mrs. Prunier" who first taught them to cook and to sew. She loved to travel with her husband and together they visited the Bahamas, San Martin, Aruba, Bermuda, Puerto Rico and Ireland. They spent many New England winters vacationing in Florida. She loved her family most of all and loved spending time with her three grandsons.
