WEBSTER – Juanita I. (Osbourn) Fox, 78, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, May 21, 2016, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer, during which she refused to let it stop her from living life to the fullest.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, William Fox of Webster; three sons, Ronald Corkran of Biddeford, ME, Gerald Corkran of Webster, with whom she and Bill lived, and Darren Corkran and his wife Linda of Dudley; grandchildren, Jessica Corkran of Southbridge and Christopher Corkran of Dudley; sisters-in-law Mazzie Corkran of Uxbridge, Mary Beth Dawe of Whitinsville, and Jean Dalbec of Leicester; as well as many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her close friends, Diane Smith of Webster, Patricia Bouley and Ruth Holmberg of Whitinsville, Sandra Hanus of Baltimore, Betsy Cusimmono of Glen Rock, PA, Eileen Jones of Beaufort, SC, and Ila Oliver of Surf City, NC; her beloved dog and constant companion, Hercules; and her four cats.
Juanita was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Corkran; her son, Donald Corkran; and her seven brothers and sisters.
She was born on March 21, 1938, in Clarksburg, WV, and attended Roosevelt Wilson High School in Clarksburg and Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester.
Juanita was proud of her heritage and was a card-carrying member of the Cherokee Nation. She enjoyed NASCAR racing, having attended many tracks on the circuit and rooting on Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. She had a love of the ocean and spent what time she could on beaches where she lived in Maine, Florida, Alabama, and North Carolina.
She was employed at Wal-Mart in Newport, ME, as well as Sprague Electric and Digital Corporation before retiring to Hampstead, NC, where she continued to work as a home health aide for another 10 years before relocating to Webster.
A light has been extinguished in the world with her passing, and she will be forever missed by those who knew and loved her.
The family would like to thank the staff at UMass Memorial Medical Cancer Center, the Dana Farber Cancer Institute of Milford, and the Notre Dame Hospice of Worcester, for the care and compassion they have provided during Juanita’s illness. The family also extends their gratitude to the Wal-Mart management at store #2012 in Oxford, for their help and understanding during her illness.
