OXFORD – Joyce A. Sirard, formerly of Pond Street, died Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Webster Manor Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Richard P. Sirard who died in 2010. She is survived by six children, Jean Thibodeau of Oxford, Peter Sirard and his wife Kathleen of Webster, Paul Sirard and his wife Cherie of Charlton, Joseph Sirard and his wife Gretchen of Ventura, CA, Stephen Sirard and his wife Maura of Oxford, and Thomas Sirard and his wife Karen of Whitinsville; a brother, David C. Farrar of Oxford; eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was born in Oxford, daughter of the late Charles E. and Evelyn L. (Cazeault) Farrar, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. She graduated from Oxford High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Framingham State University in 1959.
Mrs. Sirard was a home economics teacher at Oxford High School for several years prior to retirement. Previously, she was a teacher at Leicester High School. She was a member of St. Roch’s Church in Oxford and St. Joseph’s Church in Charlton, where she volunteered making costumes for their plays.
Mrs. Sirard volunteered at the Oxford Public Library for nearly 20 years. She was instrumental in the Oxford Bandstand Project, and relocating the historic schoolhouse to the town common. She authored a book on the Industrial Park in Oxford, and was a highly-skilled dress maker, costume designer, and project coordinator.
The family would like to thank Christopher Heights and Webster Manor, for the love, care, and friendship shown to Joyce during her time with them.
A funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Monday, January 6, 2025, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
