AUBURN - Joyce A. (Moore) Wilson McDermott, 79, of Washington Street, died Thursday, July 29, 2010, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert McDermott. She is survived by three children, Gary R. Wilson and his wife Debra of Gilford, NH, Scot M. Wilson and his wife Donna of Oxford, and Dawn P. Durling and her husband Curt of Charlton; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and one niece. She predeceased by a son, Dana F. Wilson; and a sister, Claire Zelent. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late John and Nina (Steeves) Moore, and lived in Oxford before moving to Auburn over 20 years ago. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester in 1948. Mrs. Wilson McDermott tended bar in the area for many years and worked in home health care, retiring in 1995. She enjoyed cooking and knitting, was a seamstress, and volunteered at the American Legion Tuttle Post in Auburn. A funeral will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be private at Hope Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Auburn Firefighter's Association, 47 Auburn St., Auburn, MA 01501. Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, is assisting the family with arrangements.
