WEBSTER – Joyce K. (Hand) Herrion Adams, 81, died Saturday, February 13, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Fred G. Adams of Webster; three sons, James R. Herrion and his wife Jane of Dudley, William R. Herrion and his wife Maureen of Dover, NH, and Thomas P. Herrion and his wife Leslie of Duluth, GA; four grandchildren, Christopher, Caitlin, Ryan, and Robert Herrion; and several nephews and nieces. She also leaves her step-son, Donald “Skip” Adams his wife Michelle and their son Brian. In addition, she also leaves her very dear friend, Loretta Weatherwax. She was predeceased by her first husband who she was married to for 25 years, James J. Herrion, who died in 1978; her infant son, Robert Herrion; her brother, Fr. Raymond Hand; and her sister, Joanne Farrauto. She was born in Yonkers, NY, daughter of the late Francis and Kathryn (Burckhardt) Hand, and lived in Yonkers, NY, Auburn, and Oxford, before moving to Webster 15 years ago. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers, NY.
Mrs. Adams was a secretary for the Town of Oxford, first with the Planning Board and then with the Board of Selectmen for a total of 11 years, retiring in 1990. She was an avid shopper and enjoyed traveling. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker, and she loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
A funeral will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Thursday, February 18, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
