OXFORD – Joseph A. Wilson, 94, died Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy “Dot” R. (Riel) Wilson, who died in 1998. He is survived by four children, Shellie J. Wilson Kachadoorian and her husband Robert of Auburn, Jennifer L. Choquette of Putnam, CT, Scott J. Wilson and his wife Joy of Vernon, CT, and Dr. Mark M. Wilson of Northboro; two brothers, Fred Wilson of Westboro and David Wilson of Worcester; 10 grandchildren, Eric, Jodi, Sabrina, A.J., Kyle, Courtney, Casey, Samantha, Robyn, and Russell; six great grandchildren, Samantha, Amanda, Heather, Emma, Jasper, and Landen; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a daughter, Heather Wilson who died in 1954; and a granddaughter, Karissa J. Choquette who died in 2008. He was born in Sandown, NH, son of the late John and Beulah R. (Phillips) Wilson, and lived most of his life in Oxford. He graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester, and was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II.
Joe was a photographer for Wyman-Gordon in North Grafton for many years. In addition, he was an aerial photographer at a submarine base and worked at the Naval Underwater Systems Center in New London, CT. He was a member of Singletary Rod and Gun Club in Oxford. Joe enjoyed oil painting, writing poetry, HO scale model railroad trains, cheating at cribbage, and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
