THOMPSON, CT – Joseph H. Roy, Jr., 69, of Thompson Road, died Monday, February 22, 2016, after a short illness. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lynne E. (Anderson) Roy of Thompson; two children, Kristen E. Roy of Putney, VT, and Matthew G. Roy and his wife Mary Carol Campbell of Ardmore, PA; two sisters, Anne Nitti of Palmetto, FL, and Carolyn Roy-Bornstein of Newburyport; and three grandchildren, Julian C. Roy, Oliver C. Roy, and Caroline D. Roy, all of Ardmore, PA. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Joseph “Hector” H. and Eva L. (Buckler) Roy, and lived most of his life in Oxford before moving to Thompson 10 years ago. He graduated from St. John’s High School in Worcester in 1964, received his bachelor’s degree from Providence College in 1968, and received his law degree from Boston College in 1971. He served as a captain in the Army Reserves.

Attorney Roy operated the Law Office of Joseph Roy in Webster for several years. Previously, he was a partner at the law firm of Anastasi, Roy, and David in Oxford for many years. He was a member of St. Roch’s Church in Oxford, where he served as a Eucharistic minister and greeter. He served as a member of the Board of Selectmen and on the School Committee in Oxford for several years.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 26, 2016, at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Please meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Roch’s Church, 334 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
