OXFORD – Joseph Mesite III, 26, of Nelson Street, died on Saturday, April 3, 2021 as a result of an accident in Boulder, Colorado.  He is survived by his parents, Joseph and Wendy J. (Mabey) Mesite Jr. of Oxford; his sister, Monica G. Cimba and her husband Jacob of Japan; aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends.  He was born in Worcester and was a lifelong resident of Oxford.  He graduated from Bay Path R.V.T. High School in Charlton in 2012 and received his bachelor’s degree in Business and Marketing from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.

Joe was a flight attendant for Frontier Airlines for 2 years, intermittently worked for Aerogelic Ballooning in Phoenix, AZ, and drove for Uber, Lyft, and Grub Hub.  Joe and all who knew him, always considered him “The Adventurer.”  He had a passion for and fully experienced para-motoring, hot air ballooning, mountain climbing, hiking, snowboarding, longboarding, and searching for airplane wrecks in nature.  He worked hard and was gifted at photography especially in nature.  He had one of his photos on the cover of an outdoor magazine in Virginia. He was also especially gifted at bringing out the best in any situation no matter how mundane or boring.  He could bring laughter into a room like no one else. Joe made friends everywhere he went.

Joe loved traveling and spent a summer backpacking across Europe as well as visiting many other countries.  He always said, “Why live somewhere, when you can visit everywhere.”  He was a true and genuine friend.  Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed surprising his parents with unexpected trips home.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday April 12, 2021, at High Pointe Church, 1208 Thompson Road, Thompson, CT.  Burial will be held privately at a later date at Post Mills Cemetery in Thetford, VT.  Calling hours are Sunday April 11, 2021, from 3-6 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oxford.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Direct Connect Flight Academy, 1055 Aviation Way, Colorado Springs CO 80916, or to High Pointe Church/24:Seven Student Ministry, 1208 Thompson Road, Thompson, CT 06277.
