Joseph Mcdonald

WORCESTER - Joseph F. McDonald, 82, of Ararat St., died Sunday, April 3, 2011, in his home after a long illness. Joe was born in Worcester, the son of the late James and Mary (McInerney) McDonald, and lived most of his life in Worcester. After graduating from the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Worcester, he worked at the former Telechron Plant of the General Electric Company in Worcester. He went to work with Morgan Construction Company where he worked as a receiver-shipper for 34 years until his retirement. Joe served two years in the United States Army, earning the rank of Corporal while serving in Korea. He was a member of St. George's Church and the Greendale Men's Club. Joe leaves 3 sons, Glenn E. McDonald and his wife Sharon of North Oxford; James R. McDonald and his wife Debra of Oxford, and Robert J. McDonald and his wife Susan of Millbury; a daughter, Marie E. McDonald of Worcester, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He leaves a large extended family including his sisters, Claire Scarpaci and Margaret (Peg) Kiley; brother-in-law Earl McLaren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers James (Ed) and Francis; his sisters Alice, Helen, Miriam, Kathleen, Ann Marie, and Jane; and his former wife Louise. He leaves his loving companion of 16 years, Beverly Kneeland. Joe will be missed by all. A funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are Tuesday, April 5, 2011, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
