WORCESTER – Joseph A. Hedge, III, 67, of Dillon Street, died Friday, September 9, 2016, at the V.A. Medical Center in West Roxbury, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by four brothers, Michael A. Hedge of Worcester, William J. Behrens Jr. of Webster, James F. Hedge of Worcester, and Peter E. Behrens of Oxford; eight sisters, Theresa M. St. Germain of Charlton, Carol Bouchard of FL, Louise Lindberg of Webster, Mary Lou Hedge of AZ, Genevieve A. Hedge of AZ, Ann Marie Hedge of AZ, Michelle M. Hedge of Worcester, and Maureen K. Ward of Leicester; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins, as well as many friends he made at the VA Hospital over the years. He was preceded by his stepfather, William J. Behrens, Sr.; a brother, Mark V. Hedge; and a sister, Elizabeth Behrens. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Joseph A. Hedge Jr. and Rita M. (Glidden) Behrens, and lived most of his life in Worcester.
Mr. Hedge was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed attending Native American Pow-Wows and enjoyed spending time crafting Native American items. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to his very close friends who helped him throughout the past several years as well as the V.A. Medical Center in West Roxbury for their exceptional care during his time there.
A private graveside service will be held at North Cemetery in Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
