Joseph Amiot

HOLDEN/NORTH OXFORD – Joseph W. Amiot, 90, formerly of Main Street, died Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence in Worcester.  He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Margaret A. (Watson) Amiot who died in 2019.  He is survived by five children, Mary Gough of Auburn, Joseph Amiot and his wife Anne of Auburn, Jacqueline Miller and her husband David of Thompson, CT, David Amiot and his wife Alice of North Grafton, and Laurie Gardner and her husband James of Holden; five grandchildren, Daniel Gough of Harwich, Christopher Miller of Lewiston, ME, Matthew Amiot of Auburn, Catherine Gardner of Holden, and Maggie Gardner of Holden;  and many beloved nephews and nieces.  He was predeceased by his sister, Theresa Amiot who died in 2017.  He was born in Worcester, son of the late Joseph H. and Rose (Jacques) Amiot, and lived most of his life in North Oxford before moving to Holden in 2002.  He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School in 1949, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Amiot was a truck repairman for Day Brothers Inc. in Auburn for 35 years, retiring in 1992.  Later, he worked in the maintenance department at B.J.’s in Auburn for 10 years.  Mr. Amiot was a member of St. Ann’s Church in North Oxford and was a member of the Teamsters Local 170.  His Catholic faith was central in his daily life through private prayer, attendance at T.V. Mass when he was unable to attend, and his devotion to the rosary.  Joe dedicated his adult life to precious time with his family.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at St. Ann’s Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford.  Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester.  Calling hours are Tuesday from 9:00-10:15 a.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, prior to the Mass.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to support the T.V. Mass by mailing checks to the Diocese of Worcester, 49 Elm St., Worcester, MA 01609, and write T.V. Mass Donation in the memo.
