OXFORD - John E. Snyder, 90, of Forest Street, left this earth to live in everlasting peace with his wife Shirley on Friday, May 29, 2015, with his daughter Paula by his side. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Shirley L. (Martin) Snyder of Oxford who died in 2009. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Paula A. Snyder of Oxford; his special friends, Emily Roszko, Dorothy and Donald Shong, Dr. Emerson Smith, Jack Berry, Gene Hache, Ron Germain, and all of his friends at the V.F.W. He also leaves his homemaker, Lavena Shenette. He was predeceased by a sister, Clara L. Snyder of Oxford who died in 2000. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Snyder was a carpenter at R.W. Granger Contracting in Worcester for over 20 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Local 107 Carpenter's Union. He enjoyed fishing, rabbit hunting, and raising beagles. His favorite hobby was growing Atlantic Giant Pumpkins, and his largest was 750 pounds. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at North Cemetery in Oxford. There are no calling hours. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
