CHARLTON - John Joseph Sloyan III, 56, of Nichols Lane, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, in his home from pancreatic cancer. His loving family was with him. John is survived by his wife of 23 years, Maureen (O'Kane) Sloyan; three children, Jack, Katherine, and Patrick, all of Charlton; two sisters, Eileen Howard and her husband Bill of Virginia, and Claire Sloyan of New Jersey; his sister-in-law, Peg DeNicola and her husband Tom of Vermont; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Jim Sloyan. He was born on March 1, 1956, in Plainfield, NJ, the son of the late John J. and Monica (Perree) Sloyan Jr., and had lived in Charlton since 1997. John owned and operated two companies, Kitchen Ventilation Specialists and Reliable Fire Protection, for over 20 years in North Oxford. He was a very proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. His hobby that kept him out of trouble was his yard. His lawn was his altar, making sure it was the best in the neighborhood. John's family would like to thank many people: friends and neighbors who checked-in all the time or visited, nurses Missy, Maureen, and Sue all in the same day, nurse Maureen, Dr. Messersmith, Dr. Meyerwitz, and the residents in Radiology specials, Lynn and Selena from hospice, absolutely everyone in Dr. Samaha's office, especially Yen. We do not know how we could have gone through this without Yen. Memorial calling hours are Friday, June 1, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at North Cemetery, Oxford, with military honors by the U.S. Marine Corps.
