John Sibley, Sr.

OXFORD - John F. Sibley, Sr., 77, of Main Street, died Friday, July 25, 2014, at Harrington Healthcare at Hubbard in Webster. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan A. (Waters) Sibley of Oxford; two sons, John F. Sibley Jr. of Worcester, and Patrick M. Sibley of Oxford; a granddaughter, Rachel L. Sibley of Grafton; four brothers, Joseph Sibley of Winfield, TN, James Sibley of Winter Haven, FL, Jeffrey Sibley of Leicester, and Jay Sibley of Webster; four sisters, Janet Lemieux of Millbury, Judith Bowes of Oxford, Joyce Gage of Ocala, FL, and Joan Marchand of Webster; several nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. He was predeceased by a sister, Jean Sibley. He was born in Oxford, the son of the late Charles W. and Gertrude (Flagg) Sibley. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Sibley worked as a supervisor at Leggett and Platt in Oxford for 7 years, retiring in 1999. Previously, he worked at Johnson Steel and Wire Company. In his retirement, he worked part-time at Opticonx Company in Oxford. Mr. Sibley was a member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4241 and the American Legion Post 58, both in Oxford. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, sports, and going to the casinos. He was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed vacationing in Jupiter, FL. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Family and friends are respectfully requested to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery in Oxford. In accordance with John's wishes, there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Roch's Church, c/o the Cemetery Fund, 332 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540.
