QUINEBAUG, CT – John F. Lilley, 67, of Watson Road, died Sunday, January 3, 2016, in his home after a year-long battle with lung cancer. He is survived by two daughters, Kim M. Lilley of Oxford, and Megan A. Provencal and her husband Steven of Charlton; two sisters, Carole Persia and her husband Thomas of Natick, and Sandra Ngoon and her husband Kalvin of Palo Alto, CA; four grandchildren, Aaron, Alex, Damon, and Racquel Provencal; his companion, Darci Schaeffer of Auburn; his former wife, Virginia A. Lilley of Oxford; four nieces and one nephew. He was predeceased by his brother, Brian Lilley; his niece, Kara Lilley; and his companion, Deborah Germain. He was born in Worcester, son of the late William B. and Evelyn M. (McLaughlin) Lilley, and lived in Oxford before moving to Quinebaug 11 years ago. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1966 and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, receiving 2 bronze stars for his service.
John worked for the Oxford Highway Department for 20 years, retiring in 2010. Previously, he worked for General Motors in Framingham for 16 years. John was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 5663 in Oxford. He loved working around his home and in his yard, and was happiest when spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
A funeral will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2016, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will be at a later date at North Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Wednesday, January 6, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Wellness Center at St. Vincent Hospital, 1 Eaton Place, Worcester, MA 01608.
