WEBSTER - John J. Hudec, 87, of Washington St., Auburn, and formerly of School St., Webster, died Thursday, September 8, 2011, in his home. He was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, Florence A. (Hajec) Hudec, who died in 2000. He is survived by three daughters, Pamela F. Dumas and her husband Joe of Oxford, who was always there for her dad, Barbara H. Surrette and her husband Rick of Rutland, and Jayne H. Greenwich and her husband Michael of West Brookfield; four sisters, Agatha Werstak, Stella Borawski, Rose Gaumond, and Veronica Jolicoeur; six grandchildren, Jacqueline Dumas, Tammy Winsky, Taylor Surrette, Kayley Surrette, Kimberly Greenwich, and Michael Greenwich Jr.; two great grandchildren, Brittany and John Winsky; nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ann Strenk and Margie Kruegar. He was born in Webster, the son of the late Gasper and Veronica (Kasik) Hudec, and lived most of his life in Webster. He graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Hudec worked at the post office in Webster and Dudley for 42 years, retiring in 1988. He also operated Hudec Real Estate with his wife for several years. He was a member of St. Andrew Bobola Church in Dudley. Mr. Hudec was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 228 in Webster. He was a member of the D.A.V. Chapter 53 in Webster and the Veteran's Honor Guard in Webster and Dudley. He was a member of the American Legion Post 184 and the V.F.W. Post 654, both in Webster. A funeral will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main St., Dudley. Military burial will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Webster. Calling hours are Sunday, September 11, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018.
