John Germain

OXFORD - John A. "Red" St. Germain, 69, of Rose Lane, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011, in his home. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Emma "Evonne" (Stuenckel) St. Germain of Oxford; four children, Loretta Dyer and her husband Kevin of Webster, Suzanne Stelmach and her husband Michael of Auburn, Christopher and his wife Antoinette of Oxford, and David and his wife Renee of Oxford; three brothers, Eugene of Webster, William of Worcester, and Robert of Uxbridge; a sister, Jeanette Gabaree of NH; twelve grandchildren who were the joy of his life; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a son, John A. Jr. of Oxford who died in 1984; a brother, James; and a sister, Mary E. Stellato. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Eugene and Loretta (Coffey) St. Germain, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1969. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. St. Germain was a welder at the Leon J. Barrett Co. in Millbury, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the American Legion Tuttle Post in Auburn and the D.A.V. in Webster. Mr. St. Germain was a member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford, where he served as a Eucharistic minister, helped prepare dinners for the 334 Club, and was active with the festival committee. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4241 in Oxford and the 4th Degree John Cardinal Wright Assembly. He was involved in the Founder's Day celebration in Oxford. A funeral will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Military burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are Thursday, December 29, 2011, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
