John Caissie

January 26, 1912 — August 10, 2009

OXFORD - John Caissie, born January 26, 1912, passed away peacefully on Monday at St. Vincent Hospital. John is survived by his wife, Ethel (Faneuf) Caissie to whom he was married 69 years. John has 2 sons, Robert of Oxford, Massachusetts, and Donald of Safety Harbor, Florida. John leaves his brother, Edward Caissie, 2 granddaughters, Lisa Caissie, and Beth Caissie, and one great-grandchild Elias. Those who knew and loved John will remember him as a life-long learner, insatiably curious about life. Always with a smile and a joke to offer, John loved to talk with people. His working life was spent in the woolen mill industry where he was considered indispensable for repairing and innovating repairs on machinery. He eventually became self-employed in the same industry. John, a life-long religious man, was a member of St. Roch's Catholic Church, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a past member of the Lions Club, the Old-Tyme Fiddlers Group, and a Cub Scout leader of Troop 147 in Oxford. Those who knew John loved and respected him. Please omit sending flowers. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. For those who wish to remember John with a contribution to a charity, John gave regularly to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. Paradis Funeral Home, Oxford, is assisting with the arrangements.
