OXFORD- John D. Barton, 67, of Hudson Road, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at the Veterans Hospital in West Roxbury surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia M. (Leite) Barton, two daughters, Joanne M. Goyette and her husband David of Oxford and Tina L. Boss and her husband Bill of Leicester; five grandchildren, Ashley Goyette and her partner Sean Mercer, D.J. Goyette and his wife Erin, Paige Boss, Zachary Boss and Cory Goyette; three brothers, Thomas Barton of Oxford, Gary Barton of ME, and Kenny Barton of CT; two sisters Carol Philbrook of ME and Sue Barnes of FL; He was predeceased by his two brothers, Robert and Edward Barton. John was born in Worcester, the son of the late Napoleon and Ruth (Burnett) Barton, and resided in Oxford for many years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for his service. John was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #5663 and a member of the American Legion Post #58 in Oxford. He enjoyed woodworking and making furniture, reading and watching movies. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Main St., Oxford. Calling hours are Wednesday, May 20, 2015, from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
