NORTH OXFORD – John E. Anderson, 70, of Prospect Street, died Saturday, February 16, 2008, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Marjorie J. (Fleming) Anderson of North Oxford; four children, Debbie Shelton of Auburn, John Anderson Jr. of Grafton, Dean Anderson of Charlton, and Paul Anderson of North Oxford; two brothers, Richard G. Anderson of Oxford and Paul Anderson of Auburn; a sister, Constance Gregory of Auburn; six grandchildren, Meghan Anderson, Matthew Anderson, Dean Anderson, Melissa Shelton, Angela Shelton, and Rebecca Shelton; five great grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Richard G. and Ellen (Doherty) Anderson, and lived in Auburn and Oxford before moving to North Oxford over 40 years ago. He attended Auburn High School in Auburn and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Anderson was a truck driver for St. Johnsbury Trucking in Shrewsbury for 28 years, retiring many years ago. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 170 in Worcester. A funeral will be held at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 9 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Tuesday, February 19, 2008, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472, or to the Arthritis Foundation Massachusetts Chapter, Inc., Chatham Center, Suite 450, 29 Crafts Street, Newton, MA 02458-1287.
