BROOKFIELD – Joan Elizabeth (Bugbee) Germain, 84, of Webber Road, died peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2025, in her home after a long illness. She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Albert Germain Jr. who died in 1992. She is survived by five children, Alan Germain and his wife Karen of Broad Brook, CT, Debra Brigham and her husband Richard of Brookfield, James Germain of Dudley, Linda Corkran and her husband Darren of Florida, and Brian Germain and his wife Karen of Dudley; a sister, Pauline Mahoney of Colchester, CT; thirteen grandchildren, Nathaniel Germain and his wife Beth, Andrew Germain and his wife Leilani, Emily Desjarlais and her husband Joshua, Jacob Brigham and his wife Jill, Joshua Brigham and his wife Christina, Benjamin Brigham and his wife Kelsey, Jennifer Dupre, Samantha Germain , Kate Saad, Jessica Corkran, Christopher Corkran and his wife Jessica, Jennifer Battista and her husband Pete, and Michael Germain; twenty great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Kylie; and two brothers, Paul Bugbee and James Bugbee.

She was born in Medway, daughter of the late James and Ruth (Miskill) Bugbee, and lived in most of her life in Oxford. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1958.

Mrs. Germain was a welder at David Clark Inc. in Worcester for fifteen years, retiring at age 70. Previously, she was a nurse’s aide at Sandalwood Nursing Home in Oxford, and worked at Ethan Allen in Dudley. Her family meant everything to her. She was a wonderful mother, and enjoyed spending time with her sisters, brothers, and their spouses.

The family would like to thank Overlook Hospice, for the exceptional care given to Joan during her illness.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford.

Calling hours are Wednesday from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, prior to the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Overlook Hospice, P.O. Box 1000, Charlton, Massachusetts 01507.
