WORCESTER - Joan I. (Gubber) Alano Faneuf, 76, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at the Life Care Center of Auburn, surrounded by her children and grandchildren after a long illness. She is survived by a son, Michael A. Alano and his wife Brenda of Dudley; three daughters, Marie E. Squiers and her husband George of Millbury, Diane M. Wolverton and her husband Ronald of Calais, ME, and Karen A. Long and her fiancé Jimmy Hughes of Worcester; a daughter-in-law, Mary (Lollie) Faneuf of Florida; fourteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren; a close friend, George Madaga of Worcester; many nephews and nieces, including her special nephew Thomas Lippe of Florida; and her loving cat, Honey. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald F. Faneuf Sr.; a son, Ronald F. Faneuf Jr.; three brothers, William F., George J., and Francis J. Gubber; and three sisters, Lorraine P. Martel, Ellen R. Caissie, and Theresa M. Lippe. She was born in Oxford, the daughter of the late William A. and Mary Salina (Strack) Gubber, and lived Orlando, FL, before moving to Worcester 12 years ago. Mrs. Faneuf was a waitress at the Red Lobster in Florida for 15 years, retiring 20 years ago. She enjoyed singing with local country-western bands and was a yodeler. She loved playing table games, cards, video games, and was even known to scratch a lottery ticket now and then. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and enjoyed nothing more that spending time with her family. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Central Cemetery, Millbury. Calling hours are Friday, March 6, 2009, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
